Obituary of Richard Lee Vardy, Jr.
Richard Lee Vardy, Jr., age 69, passed away on April 6, 2026. Born on January 20, 1957, in Dallas, Texas. Richard spent his life rooted in the community he called home. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas becoming a lifelong fan of the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Richard was a dedicated and hardworking man who built a long career as a computer operations manager for Pharmchem Laboratories. After leaving the high-tech industry, he continued to serve others in a meaningful way by driving special-needs children for Birdville ISD—a role that reflected his patience, compassion, and generous spirit.
On February 14, 1997, Richard married the love of his life, Michaele Murphy. Their marriage was a beautiful example of devotion, partnership, and enduring love.
Richard was a longstanding member of Crossmark Church, and his faith was central to his life. He often shared that he was saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, a belief that shaped his character and the way he cared for others.
He was known for his genuine love of people and his quick wit, often delivering one-liner quips that brought laughter to friends and family alike.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Phillip and Sadie Vardy, Clifford and Helen Ritchie, Maxine Ritchie, and by his parents, Dr. Richard and Karen Vardy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Michaele; and his sisters, Katherine (Steve) Lincoln and Emily (Sammy) Deeb.
Richard will be remembered for his quiet strength, his unwavering faith, and the kindness and humor he shared so freely with those around him.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at Crossmark Church, 5408 Davis Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas, on Saturday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m.
