Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Duke-Hubbard
Elizabeth Ann McCarthy Duke Hubbard, 89, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. Born on April 23, 1936, she lived a long, generous, and love-filled life rooted in kindness, resilience, and devotion to the people she held dear.
Ann was the daughter of Wilfred Daniel McCarthy and Annie Elizabeth Bruton. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her siblings, WD “Mac” McCarthy and his wife Patricia of North Richland Hills, as well as her late siblings, John Perry McCarthy and Martha Nell Countryman.
Throughout her life, Ann shared her heart and home with three husbands who each held a special place in her journey: Marvin Fred Manske, C.E. Duke, and John W. Hubbard, all of whom preceded her in death. Family was always at the center of her world, and she carried that love into every chapter of her life.
She was a proud mother to her sons, Roland Mark Manske and the late Paul Marvin Manske. Ann adored her daughter‑in‑law, Martha Jo Manske, and she found immense joy in her grandsons: Timothy James Manske and his wife Lori of Sykesville, Maryland, and Ryan Mark Manske and his wife Nicole of St. Petersburg, Florida. Her heart grew even fuller with the arrival of her great‑grandchildren, Harrison Ryan Manske and Henleigh Elizabeth Manske, who brought her endless delight. She also cherished her stepdaughters, Carrie Hubbard and Christy Hubbard of Cleburne.
Ann dedicated more than 40 years of her life to Montgomery Ward in downtown Fort Worth, where she worked faithfully until her retirement. Her strong work ethic, paired with her gentle spirit, made her beloved by coworkers and customers alike.
At home, Ann’s nurturing nature flourished. She had a remarkable green thumb and surrounded herself with thriving plants and flowers — each one tended with the same care she offered to everyone around her. Over the years, countless dogs and cats found a loving home with her, a testament to her boundless compassion.
Above all, Ann will be remembered for her kind heart, her loving presence, and her unwavering strength. She cared deeply, loved fully, and gave generously. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured, the lives she touched, and the warmth she shared so freely.
