Obituary of Sylvia Kay Bloodworth

Sylvia Kay Bloodworth was born in McKinney, Texas on March 17, 1957. She was the daughter of Theron and Mary Bloodworth. Sylvia graduated from McKinney High School in 1975. In 1980, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas. Immediately following her graduation, Sylvia began her career as a Social Worker at the Department of Aging and Disabled Services, and the Department of Human Services in McKinney, Tx. Sylvia was a dedicated and industrious worker for both departments. She was a loving and generous sister, aunt, and friend who was known for her quick wit and her extraordinary sense of humor.

Our beloved sister, aunt, and friend went to be with the Lord at the age of 68 on December 1, 2025 after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer and congestive heart failure. Sylvia fought her battle with determination and grace, inspiring everyone who knew her.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Mary Bloodworth; and her sister, Carolyn Joyce Bloodworth.

ylvia is survived by her two sisters, Theda Little of Bedford, Texas and Dianne Thatcher and her husband, Larry Thatcher of Colleyville Texas; along with her nieces, Candy Martin and husband, Brian Martin of Gunter, Texas, Lindsay Garcia and her husband, Brian Garcia of Carrollton, Texas, Marci Diehl and husband, Tim Diehl of Dallas, Texas; and numerous great-nephews and great-nieces, and her best friend and confidant, Regina Hudson Aidoo.

Graveside Service: A graveside service will be held in late December following cremation, under the direction of Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas.
