Obituary of Thomas Michael Lenaghen
Tom Lenaghen—actor, comedian, and loving father, sibling, and friend passed away peacefully on December 2nd after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body disease.
Thomas Michael Lenaghen was born on April 14, 1959, in Queens, New York, to Thomas Michael Lenaghen and Florence Cecilia (McCarthy) Lenaghen. He grew up in Kings Park, NY, where his gift for entertainment emerged early—much to the challenge (and occasional amusement) of the Catholic nuns and teachers at St. Joseph’s School.
In the late 1970s, Tom moved to Texas and brought his talent to the stage as both a successful actor and stand-up comedian. He performed in cities and towns across the United States, but his greatest love was always the theater. Tom appeared in productions throughout Texas, New York, and California and was honored twice with the Critics’ Choice Award.
He will be remembered for the joy he brought to others through his remarkable sense of humor, his deep love for people, and the way he honored God throughout his life.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved younger brother, Billy. He is survived by his daughter, Molly; his brothers Patrick Lenaghen (Laverne) and Joseph Lenaghen (Jennifer); his sister, Mare Purtz; his niece, April; and his nephews Benjamin, Joshua, Nathan, Daniel, and Spencer.
We will miss him so much.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16th, at Antioch Fort Worth Church, 5023 Trail Lake Dr., Fort Worth, Texas 76133.
Donations in his memory may be made to his favorite charity, For The One Ministry. Give to Antioch Ministries Int
