John was a life long friend and hunted on our family ranch until a few years ago when he was no longer able to hunt. He loved to talk about hunting trips with his family from when he was just a young boy through to recent years when we visited by the campfire the first night of each deer season. He was delightful to visit with every year and my dad, Wesley, enjoyed his visits until his passing. We missed John the past 2 years. Prayers for the family as they deal with the loss of their loved one.

I am so thankful for my cousin, John, always, “Bubba,” to me. He was the oldest, and I was the baby of our family; but no matter the years between us, he was always there for me. As we grew older, the distance in age didn’t matter anymore; we only grew closer. He and Donna and Helen Ann and I had so many wonderful memories together. I loved him dearly, and I will miss him so much. Susie Reed Smith

Q: What meal or recipe did John love? A: John loved to drive out to Mary’s Cafe near Strawn. He really loved the chicken fried steak! John was also a really good leader in our Sunday school class. He kept things running on time!
