Obituary of Virginia Anderson
Virginia Rose Anderson, 87, of Granbury joined her Lord on Sunday, October 26, 2025 in Granbury, Texas.
Virginia, the eldest of twelve children, was born in Marion County, Iowa to Ernest and Enid Mart on July, 21, 1938. Virginia was baptized as a young girl and was devoted to her Lord. She graduated as Valedictorian from Atkinson High School in Atkinson, Illinois. Viginia worked as a secretary for Vinton High School in Vinton Iowa before moving to Texas. She studied Pharmacy and Accounting at Tarrant County Junior College before pursuing a twenty-year career as an Administrative Clerk for several agencies of the Federal Government. She loved country music, Elvis, two step, line, disco, and square dancing. Virginia spent many years traveling the country participating in square dance clubs, camping, and visiting friends and family and documented many of her travels and family stories on video.
Virginia loved her granddaughters and found great joy spending many happy hours playing with, reading to, and caring for them. She spent her later years in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas where she made many visits to Mexico and South Padre Island. She especially loved to share Turtles, Inc., the South Padre Island beaches, the zoos, and the Port Isabel Lighthouse with her sons and granddaughters when they visited. When Virginia joined her son, Brain in Granbury, she stayed active dancing, taking daily walks, playing Wa-Hoo, and watching her favorite old TV shows.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Enid Mart; siblings:Betty Whitteberg, David Mart, Norma Jean Mart, Christine Darise, and Evelyn Parker; and granddaughter, Chloe Anderson.
Virginia is survived by sons Brian Anderson (Tammy), Darrell Anderson (Julie); sisters: Jackie Higdon, Cindy Webster (Frank), Judy Cucchiarella (Mario); brothers: Jerry Mart (Monica), Tom Mart, Doug Mart (Becky); granddaughter; Alexis Anderson, multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews, and dearest friends: Sonai Smith, Ion Duffy, and Nell Sawyer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 23 at Celebration Hall, 114 North Crockett Street, Granbury, with Pastor Wade Killough of Anchor Fellowship, officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
