Obituary of Barbara J Webb-Smith

Barbara Jenell Webb-Smith was born on September 15, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Etta Delores Griffin Thomas and John Smith. She departed this life on October 19, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was baptized at St. Andrew Methodist Church and attended Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School, James E. Guinn, and I.M. Terrell High School, where she graduated in 1972. During her school years, she proudly played in the marching band that perfectly suited her joyful and energetic spirit.

Barbara loved life. She found joy in dancing, sports, music, playing cards and dominoes, bowling, swimming, traveling, and styling her own hair. She had an infectious energy that brightened every room and brought joy to all who knew her.

She was married to Johnny Spriggins, her greatest blessings: her children, Tomora D Spriggins and Motorria L. Webb-Washington, husband Jeremy Washington and father Harvey Webb. Her pride and joy continued with her grandchildren, Tyler Webb (Prairie View A&M University), and Payton Washington (Southern University & A.M. College, Baton Rouge, Louisiana). She loved her family deeply and supported them with all her heart.

She is also survived by her father, John Smith; her siblings, Tonya Blake, Veronica Smith, Reginald Smith, and Aquarius Burleson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Etta Delores Griffin Thomas; her grandmother, Bertha Irene Griffin; her grandfather, Nathaniel Griffin Sr.; her sister, Billie Davis; and her husband, Harold Smith.
