Please share a memory of Dwight to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dwight Paul Saunier, age 84, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2025. Born August 30th, 1941 in Canton, Ohio, Dwight was the son of Clem Saunier and Ellen Nimon.

Dwight is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Saunier; son Paul Saunier and wife Elisca Steensmaeijkman of Fort Worth, TX; son Michael Saunier and wife Mandi Saunier;

grand-daughter Hannah Aleman and husband Nathaniel Aleman; granddaughter Kaley Watson and husband Branden Watson; granddaughter Addison Cantrell and fiance Cole Goswick; great-grandson Parker Aleman, and great-granddaughter Margo Watson all of Lubbock, TX.

Dwight, affectionately known as Grumpy, was a decorated Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant during his time with the Air Force, and holds many different commendations that were earned during his 30 year tenure. Dwight retired from the US Air Force in 1985 and was affectionately known around Brooks AFB in San Antonio, Texas as Sgt Rock!

Grumpy was an avid gardener and was proud of his lawn and the various plants he grew. There was not an estate sale around that Grumpy and Evelyn didn’t like, and he always made sure to call his friends and family if he found an item he thought they would like or needed. Oftentimes, he’d make the purchase whether you thought you needed it or not. Along with gardening and estate sales, Grumpy loved reading cookbooks to find new recipes, he made a remarkable carrot cake loved by all. In his recliner you could catch him working a favorite passtime,

seek-n-find puzzles. He was a proud and active member of The American Legion: Post 297, and was actively holding the rank of Sergeant-at-Arms.

Dwight was loved and admired by many and he will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. A memorial service will be held on 31 Oct 2025 at 11:15 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation via the following link: Veterans & Children Foundation | The American Legion
