Obituary of James Michael Deupree

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mike was born on July 18, 1950, in Athens, Texas to Margie Hatton and James Joseph Deupree. His family later moved to Fort Worth, where he graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1968. After graduation, he proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served testing flight simulators at Keesler Air Force Base.

His career later took him to Galveston with the Army Corps of Engineers before returning to Fort Worth, where he completed his education with determination, earning his degree from Texas Wesleyan University and later his Certified Public Accountant license. Mike went on to work for the Corps of Engineers and the Defense Contract Audit Agency. While at DCAA, he was honored with the opportunity to present to the Supreme Audit Institute in Brussels, Belgium—a highlight of his professional life.

Mike was deeply committed not only to his work but also to his family and community. He was a member of the Texas Public Accounting Organization and First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth. He also served as past president of the North Crowley Cheerleaders Booster Club and enjoyed being part of neighborhood social activities.

Above all, Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 44 years, Deborah (Dee) Brown Deupree. He was a proud father to Jamie Deupree Eikenberry (Bob), Krista Deupree Sparks (Jeff) and Darcy Parish Deupree McCready (Brendan). He found immense pride and happiness in being a Pop to his grandchildren: Ethan Eikenberry, Adam Eikenberry, Kaitlyn Ridgeway, Kyle Brown, Dalton Sparks, Austin Sparks and Kellan Parish McCready. He also is survived by his sisters, Ellen Hawkins and Mary Virgil.

Mike will be remembered as a kind, funny, and loving man with a strong will and remarkable determination. He was conscientious in all he did, deeply family-oriented, and unwaveringly supportive of those he loved. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and devotion to his family will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

The family would like to thank his caregivers Lovie McDaniel and Amy Johnson and all the medical staff and physical therapists that have helped him in this past year.
