Obituary of Kristine Marie Goad Burdette
Kristine Marie Goad Burdette, 59, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on September 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after courageously battling cancer for nearly four years.
Kristi was born on June 25, 1966, in Millington, TN, the daughter of Dan Goad, Jr. and Sidney Anderson Buff. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1984, then went on to earn a degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Kristi married Scott Lawrence Burdette on June 3, 1995, at Ridglea United Methodist Church. Scott was her best friend and the love of her life. Their children, Amy Lawrence Burdette Norris (born March 2, 1998) and Anderson Daniel Burdette (born February 26, 2000), were her pride and joy.
Kristi taught special education at the Psychiatric Institute and in the Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities at Ridglea Hills Elementary School. Later, she was fortunate to teach at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History's Museum School, where she led science enrichment programs for 3- and 4-year-olds in the Raccoon Class, alongside many dear friends.
A lifelong volunteer, Kristi spent countless hours supporting her children’s schools and extracurricular activities. She was a member of Arborlawn United Methodist Church (previously Overton Park UMC) for the last 30 years, and served in many roles—including high school mission trips, VBS, United Methodist Women, the Nativity Pageant, and many other ministries. She lived out John Wesley’s rule:
“Do all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can.”
Remaining to cherish Kristi’s memory are her husband, Scott Burdette; her children, Amy Burdette Norris (Hunter) of Fort Worth and Andy Burdette (Sarah) of San Antonio; her father, Dan Goad, Jr., and her mother, Sidney Buff, and her husband, Gary; her father-in-law, Robert Lee Burdette; her brother, Dan Goad III (Shelly) and their son, Newt; and her brother-in-law, Bret Burdette (LeeAnn), and their children, Cole Burdette, Anna Richardson, and Dawson Burdette, along with their spouses and children. She also leaves behind many dear and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joy Schroeder and Sid Anderson; paternal grandparents, Dan and Francis Goad; mother-in-law, Sandra Burdette; and step-sister, Cari Lynn Buff.
A celebration of Kristi’s life will be held on Friday, September 19, at 1:00 PM at Arborlawn United Methodist Church, 5001 Briarhaven Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76109.
