Obituary of Peggy Ann Morrison

Peggy Ann Morrison (née Childs) went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 98. She passed peacefully in her home in Fort Worth, Texas, where she had resided for the past ten years.

Peggy was born on December 6, 1926, in Jacksonville, Texas. She spent her childhood in East Texas, living in Rusk, Henderson, Tyler, and Jacksonville.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, James Paul Morrison; parents, Oakley and Peggy Childs; and her brother, John Oakley Childs.

She is survived by her three daughters, Pam Morrison Jarvis, Melinda Morrison, and Mary Morrison; sister, Nancy Loper; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; as well as nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

Peggy graduated from Jacksonville High School, earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Stephen F. Austin University, and received her Master of Arts from Southern Methodist University. She dedicated 32 years to teaching English and Texas History at Moore Middle School in Tyler, Texas, where she touched countless young lives.

A woman of deep faith, Peggy was an active member of Grace Community Church in Tyler and was the founder of Sparrows, a ministry for widows that continues to bless others to this day. In her later years, she was active in Bible Study Fellowship and City Life Church in Fort Worth.

Peggy will be remembered as a faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, as well as a generous and devoted servant of God. A proud member of the Greatest Generation, she deeply loved her country and her state.

She will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
