Obituary of Marie Antionett Martin

Marie Antionett Martin (also known as Ann) was born on March 17, 1962, to the parents of Charly Slaughter & Myrtle Martin in Fort Worth Texas. Marie Martin attended Fort Worth public schools and graduated from OD Wyatt in 1980. She continued her education at Olge Beauty and Cosmetology of Fort Worth, where she received her cosmetology license. In 1981 she went on to pursue her career as a secretary of the U.S. Air Force Recruiting Service. Where she met and married Glen Mitchell, and together they started a family, in which they welcomed a son and daughter. Outside of work, she enjoyed modeling for Montgomery Awards, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

At an early age Ann accepted Christ as a member of Greater Progressive COGIC under the late Bishop J.L Johnson. She later united with New Jerusalem Church of Fort Worth, under the watchful eyes of the late Pastor R.M. Martin where she was a faithful member. 

Later in her life, on May 9, 2018, she then married Calvin Stewart where they built a wonderful life together and enjoyed spending quality time together. 

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, Ann heard the master's voice saying daughter, well done thy good and faithful servant, come home and take your rest.

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Stewart, parents Charley Slaughter, Myrtle Harris, her stepfather AD Harris, and sister Sharon Rischer.

Those left to cherish her legacy are her son, Glen Mitchell Jr (Erica); daughter, Tyger Mitchell; grandkids, Arianna Mitchell, Glen Erick Mitchell, Carlette Mitchell, Amiyah Mitchell, Glen Mitchell III, Dzhuan Tryon, Iadanion Gay, Jon Jennings; siblings, CT Slaughter (Margret), Charles Martin (Mary), Melvin Miller (Alice), Gloria Wright, Darlene McCullough, Robert Lynn Harris, Jane Harris, Albert Harris Jr (Shamora); and a host of family members and friends she loved.

Services: A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at Thompson & Son Chapel, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133.
