Dr. Smith was my major professor, and I was his grader at Southwestern Seminary. Beyond that he was a mentor, friend, a role model, and a constant encourager. He preached the sermon at my ordination. He was one of the smartest men I ever met. He taught both missions and ethics courses at seminary. He still inspired me by teaching at Tarrant County College at age 91.
He also had wonderful relational skills I could only dream about. Most importantly, he inspired me to know the Word of God better, to apply it better, to know Jesus better and to do better in making Jesus known to all peoples. My condolences to his family. He is greatly missed, and I pray God raises up thousands like Ebbie.
