Obituary of Aaron George Dix
Aaron George Dix Jr. was born on October 26, 1940 in Marshfield Wisconsin to Aaron George Dix Sr. and Marion (Hahn) Dix. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary, and Columbus High School. He loved and excelled in sports, leading Columbus to a State Championship in football as their Quarterback.
After High School he married Mary Jo See in 1958 and they were blessed with two sons, Greg and Jeff. Only a couple of years later Mary Jo passed suddenly on April 19th, 1960. On November 4, 1961, he married Bonita M. Stewart of Thorp Wisconsin. They were blessed with three children: a son Scott and two daughters, Jodi and Kelly.
In 1958, Aaron began a career in retail management with the FW Woolworth Company that would span 30 years. As he continued with Woolworth he rose quickly up the ranks ultimately to a Regional Director of Sales position. This entailed many moves encompassing 19 cities in 7 states. With his continued success in retail, he took an opportunity to join a retail start up in California called Home Express. he eventually served as President and CEO of the company. After his time at Home Express, the move back to Fort Worth, Texas where he would finish out his retail career in a variety of positions with a company named Garden Ridge.
He was a “people person” who loved his family, friends, coworkers, employees and his church family. He grew up in the Catholic Church but after the move back to Texas began attending and joined Waples Baptist Church in Granbury. He loved Bible Study, church and “talking to Jesus.” One of the ways the Lord used him was to bring encouragement to young people in a halfway house in Fort Worth, where he served with his good friend and neighbor Billy.
He was also faithful in caring for his daughter Kelly until her passing in 2022. As his health declined he would finish the final season of his life at Granbury Villa Care Center in Granbury where he was surrounded by a loving staff who cared deeply for him. He passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on May 3, 2025.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of 63 years; his son Greg and wife Kendy, of Littleton, CO; son Jeff of Carrollton, TX; son Scott and wife Lori of Granbury, TX; daughter Jodi and husband Patrick Wall of Granbury. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Aaron Michael and wife Abbie, Melanie Hill, Melissa Wyatt, Ashley and husband Saad Hussain, Ryan and wife Sierra, Shelby, Jennifer and husband Tyler Cole, Brianna, Seth and wife Nikki, Abigail and husband Kyle Murphy, and Bonnie Mae. In addition, ten great grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters, many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jo, brother Paul, daughter Kelly and granddaughter Alyssa. Donations in memory of Aaron can be made to the Humane Society of North Texas, 1840 E Lancaster Avenue, Fort Worth, TX 76103.
