
Obituary of Janette Gibson
Janie Gibson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on April 14, 2025, at the age of 91.
Janie was born to Stefan and Luine Haelbig in Rockdale, Texas on October 1, 1933. She graduated from Rockdale High School and married Gordan Gibson of Cameron, Texas. They had four children before moving from Houston to Arlington in 1968. Janie built a career as an administrative professional at Coble Cravens Insurance.
Janie lived a full and loving life devoted to her family, faith, and community. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed attending their sporting, music, and school events. She was a faithful member of the North Davis Church of Christ, where she built lifelong friendships and volunteered with the Hearts and Hands food pantry. Janie enjoyed walking, tennis, gardening and traveling.
Janie is survived by daughter Melissa Saniuk and husband, Steven, son Jon Gibson and wife, Marla, son Mike Gibson and wife, Gina, daughter-in-law Paula Gibson, and sisters Sharon Laurence and Lynn Rose. She is also survived by grandchildren Madison Saniuk and husband Steven Vickers, Georgia Blair and husband Cameron, Ashley Liebel and husband Eric, Tyler Gibson and wife Kim, Kolton Gibson, Carson Gibson, Parker Gibson, Derek Gibson, Cade Gibson, Megan and John Stivers, and great-grandchildren Knox and Nash Gibson, Michael, Annabelle, and Eleanor Blair, and Mitchell Stivers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordan Gibson and her son, Scott Gibson, by her brother Stefan Haelbig II and her sister, Donna Cheaney.
Memorial donations may be made to Arlington Hearts and Hands. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lighthouse of Care for the loving care and attention she received.
A memorial service will be held at North Davis Church of Christ on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM. A reception will follow the service. Private burial will be at DFW National Cemetery.
