Obituary of Laurie Ann Bernard

Please share a memory of Laurie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Sunday, April 13, 2025, Heaven gained another beautiful soul, Laurie Ann Bernard, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Laurie was surrounded by her family as she went to be with the Lord after a long-fought battle with (Early-Onset) Alzheimer’s.

A Texas native, Laurie grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School in 1975. After high school, she went into banking, working her way up to Bank Vice President. Although successful, Laurie was not meant to be a banker, and she returned to school enrolling in LeTourneau University. Here she found her calling and true purpose as an elementary school teacher. Her students were her kids, and over the years many children have gotten to experience, learn, and benefit from Laurie’s huge heart to serve others. Her love and kindness taught them, and all that knew her. Teaching compassion, empathy, and generosity to others through the way she lived her life. We all benefited from her love of others. And, with her unwavering faith in the Lord she (unknowingly) taught us all what it means to be Christ-like. When Laurie was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in her early 50’s, her love and faith in Jesus Christ stayed steadfast, knowing HE would see her through.

Laurie is survived by her mother, Jo Ann Bernard, her brothers Kevin, Keith, and Jeff, and their families. She was preceded in death by her father, Laurence Bernard.

Services will be held Saturday, April 19th, at Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133.

Visitation starts at 10:00am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00am. The burial will be at 1pm at Laurel Land, 7100 Crowley Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76134.
