Obituary of Florabel Edith Slusher
Flora Edith Slusher (also known as Flori Dori), was born on May 26, 1938, to Alexander Clarke and Ernestine Gill in Belize City, Belize (Central America).
As a teen, she attended Wesley College in Belize and was a part of the Girls Guides where she learned how to sew and cook. She then married her teenaged sweetheart (George Slusher), and together they started a family, in which they welcomed 4 sons, and 3 daughters. In 1970, she migrated to the U.S., and settled in Queens, New York, where she began to work towards the American dream. She started off with housekeeping however, moved on to study nursing as her professional career. Outside of work, she enjoyed cooking, trips to the casino, and hanging out with friends and family. In her later years she enjoyed telling stories about her upbringing; the good old days; cooking and getting pampered. For those that know, Flora did not play about getting her hair and nails done. Lastly, she offered sound advice to the grandkids as she watched them grow with admiration.
She is survived by her seven children, Edward, George Michael, Stephen, Sherman (Jackie), Gayon, Lesa and Deborah; brother, Edgar; sister and brother-in-law, Alice & Norman; along with 10 grandchildren (Edward Jr., Yanira, Indira, Shantel, Yvette, Tasha, Chelsey, Krystil, Felicia and Naquel); and 13 great-grandchildren.
