Obituary of Jacqueline Stoddard Betts

Please share a memory of Jacqueline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jacqueline “Jaqui” Mae Stoddard Betts passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas, at the age of 80, after a brief illness. Known for her loving heart, warm spirit, and generous nature, Jaqui was a joyful soul who found happiness in her family, her faith, and her friendships.

She was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 22, 1944, to Dwayne and Marilyn Stoddard. Jaqui attended Brigham Young University, where, within the first month of school, she met and fell in love with her future husband of 58 years, Randal Bartly Betts. They were married on November 26, 1964, in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Shortly after their time at BYU, Jaqui and Bartly moved to Alberta, Canada, where they eventually settled for many years in the village of Rosemary and raised their growing family. They later returned to the United States, living for a time in Texas before spending many years in Kirkland and Snohomish, Washington. In 2022, they returned to Texas to live with family in Hudson Oaks.

Jaqui was devoted to her children and created a home filled with warmth and love. Jaqui had many talents, but in recent years, she especially enjoyed crocheting. She created beautiful handmade gifts for her family and friends—each one stitched with care and love. Her legendary turkey noodle soup, complete with homemade noodles, was a family favorite and the kind of comfort food that made everything feel a little better.

She loved to laugh and sing and was a kind, generous presence to all who knew her. Her Tuesday and Thursday morning “What-a-family” breakfast gatherings brought her immense joy, and the friendships formed there were deeply meaningful.

Jaqui is survived by her children Jessica Rupp (Douglas), Eric Betts (Misse), Shawndra Johnson (Paul), Tandy Imhoff (Eric), Lusannah “Anna” Vermeulen (Sean), Ayrian Ott (Peter), Damon Betts (Sarah), and Adam Betts; and by her 11 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Roselva Yost, and brothers Dwayne Stoddard, John Stoddard, and David Stoddard.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bartly, and their children Chantry and Kadin.

She will be deeply missed by her family and by the many dear friends who cherished her love, spirit, and heart.
