
Obituary of Richard Lee Ashley
Richard Lee Ashley, 60, of Fort Worth, TX passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1964 in Houston, TX to LeRoy Ashley, Jr. and Bobbie Lou Ashley. Richard is survived by his children Benjamin Ashley, Emily Ashley, along with his loving sister Beth Meche, Elaine Ashley, nieces and nephews Kenneth Sinclair, Greg Sinclair, Ashley Cartwright, Robert Wetherell Ⅱ, Jewelli Wetherell, seven great nieces and 5 great nephews, numerous family members and friends.
Richard proudly served his nation by enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps on February 18, 1987 until his Honorable Discharge on December 14, 1990. At the beginning of his service Richard was a member of The Marine Corps Band. He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal as an Aircraft Maintenance Data Analysis Technician, earning in that time the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Metal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Expert Rifle Badge in addition to the Southwest Asian Service Medal with 2 Stars.
Richard was a talented musician and singer who loved various genres of music. Later in life Richard dedicated himself to the study of Greek and Hebrew, teaching himself a basic understanding of the language as he strove to achieve a clearer understanding of the Word of God. He sincerely dedicated himself to uphold the biblical truths, to go out of his way to help others and to live a life that would cause no more harm and serve God as best as he was able.
Services will be held on April 18th, with a family time starting at 9 am, and memorial service at 10 am at Martin Thompson and Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76133. Graveside service will be at 1300 hours, or 1:00 pm at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
