Obituary of Michael James Dvorak

Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Michael James Dvorak, age 56, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Michael was born on March 16, 1968, to Jim and Judy Dvorak in Phoenix, Arizona. After graduating from Northglenn High School, Northglenn, Colorado he began a long, impressive career leveraging his creative talents in marketing and western apparel. His incredible art skills set the stage for him to design several successful western clothing and boot brands including Cinch, Cruel Girl, Southern Thread and Tin Haul. He was extremely passionate about people, creating numerous longstanding relationships with nearly everyone he met.

He is survived by his parents, sister Lorrie Duthie (Dan), brother Brian Dvorak (Brandi), four beautiful daughters, Caitlin Ross (Jarred), Mackenzie Dvorak (John) and Carley Metz (Collin) with his former wife (Carolyn Martin), and Findley Dvorak with his loving wife of 23 years Carrie Dvorak. He has four grandchildren, Ravae Metz, Baer Metz, Quinlan Ross, Harlow Ross. Michael will greatly miss Carrie’s father, Harley Barz, Carrie’s sister Christa Duncanson (Jeff), eight nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Elsie.  Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gizella and George Szalay, Jim and Gen Dvorak, Carrie’s mom, Dora Barz and Carrie’s brother, Matt Barz.

Michael would light up every room he entered with his quick wit and wry smile. He could effortlessly bounce between topics – from taxidermy and manufacturing to fishing and business. A fluent Spanish speaker, he felt at home talking with colleagues – from janitors to vice presidents - at factories all across Mexico. Titles never mattered to Michael, he treated everybody the same.  He genuinely cared about everyone and always took the time to listen and get to know who they were as people. He was an amazing father, helping shape and guide his daughters into the wonderful women they are today. He loved to laugh and tease and was always a joy to be around.

The world was a better place with Michael here and his passing leaves a hole in our hearts. He left us too soon, but we are better for having had him in our lives and will never forget him.

Arrangements pending for this Fall in Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, to continue Michael’s legacy a college scholarship fund has been established at the University of Iowa for Findley. Donations may be directed to Dvorak Family Memorial (Education) Account through Zelle with Frost Bank @ 303-884-7841 or directly to Carrie and Findley Dvorak P.O Box 100216 Fort Worth, Texas 76185.
