Celebrating the Life of Phyllis Kaye Johnson, It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that we celebrate the life of Phyllis Kaye Johnson, born on June 1, 1969, in Lake Providence, Louisiana, to the late Henritta Williams and Earnest Baldwin. Phyllis was preceded in death by her beloved daughter baby K, her mother and her brother, Vernon Folks Sr.

She leaves behind her sisters and brothers, Jackie Folks, Anita Hudson (David), Janessa Lewis, Valerie Jackson, Tracey Johnson, Stoney Johnson, John Jeffrey Harris.

From an early age, Phyllis embraced her faith, accepting Christ and becoming an active member of Cain Ride #2 Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Jones. She found joy in singing, lending her beautiful voice to the church choir, and harmonizing alongside her siblings in the "Voices of Tabernacle."

A talented athlete, Phyllis attended Lake Providence Jr. High, where she played sports and later graduated from the Lake Providence High School Class of 1987. Seeking new opportunities, she moved to Texas in 1988 with her sister, where she pursued her passion for healthcare.

Phyllis had a deep love for the medical field, dedicating many years of service at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to helping others. Her patients, colleagues, and loved ones admired her warmth, her genuine care, and her ability to bring comfort to those in need.

Beyond her profession, Phyllis was a vibrant soul who cherished her family and lived life with joy. She laughed often, loved deeply, and embraced every moment with grace. She had an infectious passion for dancing, fashion, and makeup—heels were her absolute favorite, adding flair to every step she took.

Phyllis' presence illuminated the lives of those around her, leaving a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion. As we honor her memory, we find solace in knowing her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Upon moving to Texas, Phyllis found joy in sharing her love for cooking, turning it into a passion that brought comfort and connection to those around her. On September 11, 2011, when her brother opened Stormie Mondays Soul Food Cafe, she was right by his side, becoming the restaurant’s first cook. With skillful hands and a heart full of love, she crafted soul-warming dishes that embodied tradition and flavor.

Phyllis Kaye Johnson lived with grace, confidence, and an undeniable presence. Throughout her young adulthood, she turned heads with her style, elegance, and radiant spirit. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on. We honor her life and carry her spirit forward in our hearts always.

A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole Funeral Home, 4350 River Oaks Blvd, Fort Worth, TX 76114.
