Billy Young Parker, DVM, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday, University Baptist Church, 2720 Wabash Ave, Fort Worth. Graveside: 10 a.m. Thursday, Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Martin Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 6009 Wedgwood Dr., Fort Worth. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to, the Texas A & M College of Veterinary Medicine Class of '54 Scholarship Fund, 402 Raymond Stotzer Pkwy, College Station, TX 77845 or the Texas Lions Camp, 4100 San Antonio Hwy, Kerrville, TX 78028. Billy was born on June 24, 1930 in Fort Worth to Jasper and Lillie Parker. He was a member of Sagamore Hill Baptist Church growing up, and a member of University Baptist Church for over 50 years. Billy was very involved at University Baptist and is a past chairman of the Deacons. In 1954 he graduated from Texas A & M School of Veterinary Medicine. In 1957 he opened the Berry St Animal Hospital where he practice for 42 years. He was a member of the Fort Worth Aggie Club, and a Past President of the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association. Billy was involved in many civic organizations in Fort Worth, including the Masonic Lodge and Fort Worth Southeast Lions Club, where he was Past President. He also served in other capacities with District 2E2 with the Organ and Eye Bank and the Texas Lions Camp. He was awarded a Life Membership to the Texas Lions Camp and received Old Monarch awards. His greatest joy was being involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was and avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Farm and Ranch Club. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his son James Young Parker. Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Dorothy E. Parker; sons, Tim Parker and wife Carman, and Dan Parker and wife Jane; daughter, Joy Morgan and husband Mark; grandchildren, Jim Parker, Christy Rutherford, DVM, Misty Lee, Allen Muse-Allred, Josh Morgan, Sara Morgan, Rachel Parker, Robert Parker and Kaleigh Parker; great-grandchildren, Britain and Bryce Rutherford; sisters, Mary Jean Knight and Betty Anne Sweitzer; nieces and nephew; Jeannie Knight Smith, Susan Piepers, and John Sweitzer; and extended family including MaryLou Benware, John M Archer and sons, Chris and Keith.
