Charles D. Atkinson, 86, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. Services: A visitation will be held from 10 - 11 a.m. with a service beginning at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, Crowley First United Methodist Church, 509 Peach St, Crowley, TX. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to Crowley First United Methodist Church or the Union Gospel Mission. Charles was born on July 6, 1934 in Throckmorton to Clara and Duke Atkinson. He was an active member of Crowley First United Methodist Church since 1975, where he held many offices and volunteered as a Youth Sponsor. Charles attended Cisco Jr College where he played football and graduated with a degree in Physical Education and Teaching Certificate from McMurray University. Charles worked for Stratoflex/Parker Hannifin for 43 years. He was also a football official for SFOA for 26 years. He loved sports and coached football, basketball and baseball for the YMCA. Charles also enjoyed playing volleyball at the UMCA into his seventies. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. Survivors: Wife Patsy King Atkinson; son, Timothy Dale Atkinson and his wife Kathy; daughter, Cynthia Gail Freeman and her husband Jeff; grandchildren, Lauren Freeman, Trenton Freeman and his wife Kaylinn, Andre Freeman, Abigail Freeman, and Elizabeth Atkinson; great granddaughter, Adalynn; sister, Flora Causey; and a host of extended family and friends.
