Obituary of Anne Hartman English

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Hartman English passed peacefully on Feb. 11, 2017 from a stroke. As she went to be with the Lord, her husband and six children surrounded her and lifted her up in song with her favorite hymn Amazing Grace. She is deeply loved and dearly missed. Anne was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Lawrence and Martha Hartman on June 12, 1932. She was the third of five children. As a high school sophomore, she met and fell in love with her husband of 63 years, Dr. Wayne R. English, Jr. After completing her studies in business administration, she supported her husband and other physicians as an office administrator and manager. She completely committed her life to her family. She was a passionate gardener and loved being a member of the Burleson Garden Club. She also loved the game of tennis, playing the sport in her younger years and then avidly watching every Open on television. She was elected to the Board of the Burleson Independent School District where she served for 10 years. She continued her civic service by participating in the Burleson Kiwanis Club. She was a Christian all her life and had been a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, since moving to Burleson in 1973. She loved her women's bible study and singing in the choir. She is survived by her husband Wayne English; children Janani English, Marti (Rick) Parker, Sandra (Kurt) Voss, Jeff (Laurie) English, Kenny (Jane) English and Rob (Susan) English; grandchildren Rob and Sarah Parker, Jacob and Leah Voss, Karissa Cannon, Raptor and Panther English, Molly English and Mather and Sam English; great-grandchild Cole Cannon; siblings Marion McBride, Betty Widman and Larry (Alice) Hartman and many nieces and nephews including Kris Bickley. A public memorial service will be held March 12, 2017 at 3 PM at the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 601 SW Johnson Ave., Burleson, TX 76028. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her favorite charity Next Step Women's Center, 250-J NW Tarrant Ave. Burleson, TX 76028.
