Billy Charles Pickard, 76, of Waxahachie went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2017. Born on January 7, 1941 in Ovilla, Texas to Wilson and Juanita Pickard, Bill was the eldest of two sons. He graduated from Midlothian High School and went on to graduate from The University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1968-69. Bill and Ava Pickard were united in marriage on May 16, 1970. For 46 years, Bill enjoyed his work as a self-employed building contractor. Bill was a sweet, gentle and quiet man who loved sports, reading and spending time outside planting and tending to his vegetable garden. His great love was his family and spending time with his three children and three grandchildren. They were active members of Gateway Church in Southlake, TX. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Donnie Pickard. Survivors: His loving wife of 46 years, Ava Pickard; children, Elizabeth Pickard Pevytoe, Emily Pickard Turley and David Pickard and their spouses; grandchildren Emma (16), Abby (12) and Mikey (3). Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7810 Shiloh Road in Midlothian, Texas on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00 pm. Pastor Steve Melson of Gateway Church will officiate.
