Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
This month as we Celebrate Black History, we are also celebrating the awesome and well fought life of our mother and the matriarch of our family, Ms. Elizabeth Elisher-Dunlap. Ms. Dunlap was born on December 6, 1939 in Bonham, Texas, and on Thursday, January 28, 2021 she was transported by a host of angels into the presence of our Lord, Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of the late Reverend Swink Elisher and Georgia D. Humphrey-Elisher. During her formative and adolescent school years, Ms. Dunlap attended the Booker T. Washington Colored School, located in northwest Bonham, Texas. As a young adult, she followed her family from Bonham, Texas to Fort Worth, TX where she and her family settled down as permanent residents. Ms. Dunlap worked as a factory technician in Fort Worth for many years until she succumbed to failing health and had to relegate her duties as a committed employee. Although Ms. Dunlap never attended college, she earned an “Honorary Master’s” degree in parenting from the “School of Life,” and became an exceptional mother to three daughters and one son. During the early years of her faith, Ms. Dunlap and her children joined Macedonia Baptist Church (later known as Crawford Street Baptist Church) under the leadership of Pastor Floyd Dancer. As a member, Ms. Dunlap was elected for salvation and accepted the call to become a disciple and ambassador for Christ. Consequently, she led her children down the same path to become disciples and ambassadors of Christ as well. Ms. Dunlap faithfully served the church for several decades before transferring her membership to The Chosen Vessel Cathedral at 4650 Campus Drive under the leadership of Bishop Richard E. Young, where she remained a faithful member until she could no longer serve. Elizabeth leaves an endowment of love, honesty, integrity, responsibility, independence, hard work and faith in God as family traditions to be modeled by her children and grandchildren. Ms. Dunlap is survived by four children: Carla Dunlap, Darla Dunlap, Jean Elisher, and Earnest Elisher (Rebecca Dorest-Elisher), five grandchildren: Anais Elisher, Anastasia Elisher, Earnest Elisher, Jr., Si’ahn Elisher, and Ciara Creer-Garrison (Teddy Garrison), and 5 great grandchildren: Rylen Benson, Zairah Creer, Zander Waller, Zyon Waller; two sisters, Genice Browning and Lennie May Odom, and over 100 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Dorothy Joe Roberson and Narvell Elisher. “She fought a good fight. She finished her race.” She crossed the finish line into the “Hall of Faith.” Go, Mama! Go! Rest Mama! Rest!
